Jammu & Kashmir: The month of Margashirsha is considered extremely sacred. With the beginning of this holy month, a person should maintain purity through regular bathing and self-discipline. One should restrain the senses and renounce lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego, jealousy, and hatred, while constantly remembering the Almighty.

Every year, there are twenty-four Ekadashis, but when an Adhik Maas (extra lunar month) occurs, the number increases to twenty-six. The Ekadashi that falls in the Krishna Paksha (waning phase) of the Margashirsha month is known as Utpanna Ekadashi.

In this regard, Mahant Rohit Shastri (Jyotishacharya), President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, stated that the scriptures describe the great significance of Utpanna Ekadashi.
