Suffolk County prosecutors on Monday dropped child rape charges and other counts that had been pending against a former administrator in the Boston Public Schools , records show.
Prosecutors dropped three counts of aggravated statutory child rape, as well as one count each of possession of child pornography, posing or exhibiting a child in the nude and distributing material of a child in the nude against Michael McDonald, 44, of South Carolina, according to legal filings.
The government said in court papers that it “cannot meet its burden of proof at trial” but “reserves the right to bring new charges against the defendant in the future.”
The dismissal, meanwhile, was welcomed by McDonald’s lawyer.
