Carlos Alcaraz cemented his spot as world number one on Thursday night, closing out his ATP Finals group stage with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Lorenzo Musetti in Turin.
With the victory, the Spaniard has now won all three of his group matches at the tournament and will advance to the knockout rounds, dropping only one set.
It also means Jannik Sinner has no path left to overtake him in this year’s rankings.
The year-end world number one trophy was already handed to Alcaraz this Friday, capping off a campaign that has seen him add two more Grand Slam titles.
