The Bihar Assembly Elections have delivered a resounding mandate for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), reaffirming the electorate’s faith in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has helmed northern India’s most politically discerning State for nearly two decades. Till the time of going to press, the NDA tally at 202 seats was an overwhelming 83 per cent of the total 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly.

The opposition was reduced to just 35 seats with its chief ministerial face, Tejaswi Yadav, fighting a see-saw battle before eventually prevailing in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) stronghold of Raghopur.
