SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society made a post on Friday, November 14, giving an update about the distemper outbreak among their dog population.
They are encouraged by initial test results but are proceeding cautiously, conducting further tests on the entire dog population to ensure accuracy and detect any potential spread.
Low-risk dogs remain available for adoption, and the Humane Society is stressing the need for these dogs to find homes.
The low-risk dogs are over five months old, fully vaccinated, and were not housed in the same rooms as the affected dog.
To help get these dogs homes, the Humane Society is hosting an adoption event starting today, November 14, and going through Sunday, November 16.
For this event, all available dogs are $50!
