INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WXIX) - An escaped chimpanzee led to a lockdown at the Indianapolis Zoo Friday.
The chimpanzee was spotted outside of her exhibit around 10 a.m., according to the zoo’s Facebook post.
The zoo went into emergency protocol, which prompted a lockdown, and all guests were taken to secure locations, the Facebook post explains.

The chimpanzee was sedated and returned to her exhibit, the Indianapolis Zoo said.
“There were no injuries to guests, zoo staff, or the animal,” according to the zoo.
Normal operations have since resumed, the Indianapolis Zoo said.
