An 8-year-old boy in Edgewater saved his father from a heroin overdose by administering Narcan and calling 911.
The father, Daniel Johnson, 44, faces a charge of child neglect.
Johnson is now in jail after being released from the hospital. Officials said he overdosed on heroin, but before that, he coached his son on what to do if something happened to him.
According to an arrest report, Johnson told deputies "he smoked heroin in his garage away from his son, and prior to smoking instructed his son on what to do if something happened to him."
The report also states, "Upon finding his father unconscious, (the boy) immediately acted and gave his father Narcan like he was shown."
"My dad told me to use this thing if he didn’t wake up, it would save him. But nothing happened," the boy said
