Fresh off a brief but heavy storm system, Butte County can expect a two-day lull with possible scattered showers before returning to rainy weather on Sunday and Monday.

A forecast by the National Weather Service’s Sacramento office issued Friday morning said rain on Sunday can be expected across the map: the valley, foothills and mountains with a chance of snow in higher elevations.

The public can expect that “a colder system will bring renewed chances for rain and snow showers, breezy southerly winds and isolated thunderstorms Sunday (evening) through Monday,” according to the forecast.

Rain could lead to slick roads as well as ponding and minor flooding in areas with insufficient drainage.
