A historic Cumberland County restaurant that closed more than five years ago could be poised for a comeback.
Earlier this week, South Middleton Township’s Zoning Hearing Board approved a special exception and several variances related to the landmark Boiling Springs Tavern in Boiling Springs.
Owners Terry and Kathi Rickert are proposing about 6,198 square feet in additions to the landmark restaurant at 1 E. First St., as well as exterior and interior renovations.
The property will feature an ice cream shop, lodging facilities, a restaurant, a private dining room, a lounge with a bar and an outdoor dining pavilion. The plans call for eight guest rooms and 70 parking spaces.
According to a site plan submitted to the township, the restaurant will open at 6 a.m. for breakfast with pastrie
