MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in Manitou Springs early Friday morning.

According to the Manitou Springs Police Department (MSPD), officers responded to the crash, on Southbound Crystal Park Road at Stover Lane, at around 2:40 a.m.

When police arrived on scene, they found that a motorcycle had gone off the paved road and hit a mailbox. Colorado State Patrol and emergency medical personnel also responded to the scene.

MSPD said the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene. Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police said the crash is still under investigation. The motorcyclist had not been identified as of Friday afternoon.
