If the East Final was a tough way for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to finish their season — it was — Thursday night’s CFL Awards were an exclamation point on the end of the story.

Four Ticats were nominated for awards. Zero won.

Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell was up for most outstanding player for the second year in a row. Last year, he lost out to Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira. This time, he finished second behind B.C. quarterback Nathan Rourke.

The Lions’ pivot was second in the league with 5,290 passing yards and 31 touchdowns — behind only Mitchell who had 5,296 and 36 — and their teams finished with identical 11-7 records. However, Rourke ran for 564 yards (eighth highest in the league) while Mitchell had just 124 yards on the ground.
