BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. —

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is asking the community to avoid the area of Brevard Road because of an active investigation.

The sheriff's office posted the following message on Facebook at 2 p.m. Friday:

"There is an active investigation underway in the Brevard Road area with a significant law enforcement presence. We ask community members to choose different routes so deputies can work safely and without delays. Thank you for using alternate routes and helping prioritize the safety of both the community and first responders.More information will be released as it becomes available."
