CRESTON, Iowa (KCRG) - The Creston Fire Department suspects that a propane leak caused an explosion that destroyed a camper at an RV camp.
The department responded at 10:21 p.m. Thursday to reports of a camper explosion on Patt Street.
There was no active fire when crews arrived, but they say the explosion had “destroyed the camper and scattered debris up to 30 feet from the site.”
One person was taken to the hospital.
Firefighters disconnected nearby utilities and cleared the scene of any spots that could re-ignite.
The Creston Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office and medics were also at the scene.
