Albany Police say they have identified several persons of interest in the arson fire that killed five people, including three children, and are now pursuing multiple “credible leads.”
Investigators announced the development Friday, Nov. 14, as they continue tracking down information in the Twiller Street homicide case.
Detectives have received numerous tips from the public in the weeks since the Monday, Oct. 6 blaze, which left two adults and three young children dead, as Daily Voice reported.
Investigators are now following leads from “multiple sources” and urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
The deadly fire broke out around 10:40 a.m. at a home on Twiller Street near South Bertha Street. Responding officers and firefighters encountered the residence fully engulfed in flames with several people trapped inside, authorities said.
Despite rescue efforts, five victims were killed:
- Erick DeCamp, 52
- His 3-year-old daughter
- His 4-year-old son
- His 6-year-old daughter
- Eric Peterson, 47
Two neighboring homes were also damaged, but no other injuries were reported. More than 40 firefighters worked to keep the flames from spreading further.
On Wednesday, Oct. 29, police confirmed the fire had been deliberately set. The ruling followed a joint investigation involving Albany Police, the Albany Fire Department, the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and the Albany County District Attorney’s Fire Investigation Team.
The case is now classified as a homicide. No arrests had been announced as of Friday, Nov. 14.
Police urged anyone with information to contact the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through Capital Region Crime Stoppers.
