( KRON ) – A suspect has been arrested in the shooting of John Beam , the legendary Oakland, California, football coach who was featured in the Netflix show “Last Chance U,” police confirmed Friday.

Beam, who resigned as football coach at Laney College last year and has remained as athletic director at the school, was shot on campus just before noon Thursday.

Sources told NewsNation local affiliate KRON the arrest occurred around 3 a.m. Friday. Officers arrested a person matching the suspect description who was spotted at a bus stop, according to Oakland police.
