PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Holiday sales in November and December are expected to exceed $1 trillion this year, according to the National Retail Federation, marking about a 4% increase from last year.
“There is no doubt consumers remain concerned about inflation and have a lot of anxiety about the state of the economy and where prices are headed,” said Mark Mathews of the National Retail Federation.
The projected sales will mark another record level of spending, despite economic concerns.
Debt pressure on families
Many families plan to use credit cards to fund holiday purchases. A recent survey by BadCredit.org found that 61% of parents say they would rather go into debt than disappoint their children during the holidays.
