SHERWOOD Ore. (KPTV) - Sherwood police released video of a rescue that happened about a month ago, showing officers safely bringing a 9-year-old boy down from a rooftop.
Several people called 911 to report a boy was running around on a roof. Some callers mentioned he was on the spectrum.
Police quickly responded and got the boy to sit down as they waited for firefighters to arrive with a ladder. Crews eventually got the 9-year-old safely on the ground.
Police said the boy’s parents gave them permission to release the video as a teachable moment.
Children on the spectrum may be drawn to heights, water, or other potentially dangerous situations out of curiosity, sensory seeking, or lack of awareness, according to police.
