A Whitfield County jury found a Georgia man guilty of aggravated sexual battery Thursday.

Victor Lamont Harrison was put on trial after being accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend's 17-year-old daughter on a December morning back in 2022, according to a statement from the county.

Georgia law sets the age of consent at 16, and since the victim wasn't a minor, prosecutors were unable to charge the man with child molestation.

After the incident, the victim told her siblings, who reported it to their mom as well as the police.

A deputy with the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and found Harrison, who he said smelled of alcohol, packing his belongings into his car.

The GBI state crime lab determined that the DNA found inside the victim could be traced back to Harriso
