COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed one additional measles case connected to the ongoing Upstate outbreak, bringing the outbreak total to 44. Statewide, 47 measles cases have been reported so far in 2025.
Health officials say potential exposure sites linked to the latest case are still under investigation. As of Friday, 18 people remain in quarantine — a step DPH says has helped prevent further community spread.
DPH continues to urge residents to check their vaccination status and consider receiving the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine ahead of the busy holiday travel season. The MMR vaccine provides strong protection, especially for those unable to be vaccinated due to age or medical conditions.
