Maximo Adams is UNC basketball 's first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class.

Adams announced his decision on Nov. 14, becoming the first player in Hubert Davis' latest recruiting class. A top-25 wing according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-foot-7, 250-pound California native chose the Tar Heels over Michigan State, Texas and Kentucky.

Following a knee injury as a sophomore, Adams continued his career at Sierra Canyon and helped the program win a state championship. On the Nike EYBL circuit, Adams averaged 20.5 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, knocking down 52% of his shots, including 42% from 3-point range.
