The last quarter century of New York sports has been enough time for us to witness an incalculable number of captivating moments, brilliant athletes, elite teams and, unfortunately, embarrassing debacles.
Given that, The Post surveyed its staff, tallied everyone’s votes and assembled our rankings involving the century’s first 25 years of New York athletes, teams, debacles and moments.
We start our series today with the Best Athletes, including a focus on Yankees icon Derek Jeter. Hopefully you’ll follow along and also let us know your own rankings via our social channels.
We’ll do it all again in 2050.
