GRAND RAPIDS, MI - A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to a minimum 75 years in prison for a 2022 fatal shooting over a money dispute.
Tiesean Hatchett was sentenced Thursday, Nov. 13 for second-degree murder in the Aug. 27, 2022 shooting death of 22-year-old Dacarri Brown.
Court documents showed that Brown allegedly had taken $200 from Hatchett in July, 2022 as payment for a room rental. But Brown never provided the room, police were told.
Brown unexpectedly ran into Hatchett on Aug. 27 on Stewart Street SW, about 1:15 a.m.
Hatchett was with Leonard Lee Young Jr. and some others when they approached Brown on foot. Hatchett reportedly demanded his money but Brown did not have it.
“Hatchett became upset that Brown was not paying him his money back,” a detective wrote an affidavit.
