ST. PAULS — With the Christmas season just around the corner, the St. Pauls Lions Club is kicking off its 39th annual Loflin-Walker Christmas Fund drive, club President Jeff Walters announced.

The St. Pauls Lions Foundation, the non-profit arm of the town’s club, raises as much as $30,000 each year from donations and grants to provide food, clothing, toys, home heating fuel and medical supplies to help more than 250 disadvantaged families and individuals who live in the St. Pauls school district.

“We could not make it happen year after year if it weren’t for a community effort,” Walters said.

Applications have been distributed to the town’s three schools, apartment complexes, Town Hall, town library, and the Lumbee Guaranty Bank and First Bank branches for people to fill out. Applicatio
