OKEMOS, Mich. (WILX) -Every week, dozens of Okemos High School students are touching the hearts of senior citizens.
The Love 4 Our Elders Club strives to connect younger generations with older generations.
“Average is around 70 to 80 cards a meeting,” said Sophia Liu, a senior and founder of the club.
One hour every week, students at Okemos High School who are part of the Love 4 Our Elders club choose to take the time to connect with senior citizens.
“If you take someone who’s not feeling any of that social experience, that kindness coming from fellow humans, and then you suddenly receive a letter in your mailbox that’s like, hey, I’m looking out for you,” Liu said.
These letters sent with love began at Okemos High School three years ago.
