A Brooklyn man was killed when he lost control of his car on the Northern State Parkway and crashed into a tree.
The collision happened around 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Smithtown, on the eastbound side of the parkway just west of Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown.
Carl Salmon, 54, was traveling east in an Infiniti i35 when he attempted to change lanes, according to New York State Police. He lost control and hit the rear passenger side of a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek.
The impact sent Salmon’s vehicle off the roadway and into the center median, where it struck a tree and came to rest, police said. He was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Hospital and pronounced dead.
The Subaru also veered off the roadway and overturned before coming to a stop in the median. The driver was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital for minor injuries and later released.
Additional details about Salmon’s life were not immediately available. Loved ones are invited to share a statement, funeral details, and/or photos by emailing mmashburn@dailyvoice.com.
