BAY VILLAGE, Ohio -- Steve Swidarski, the Ward 1 councilman-elect, has been attending City Council meetings since June, talking with other council members and the administration, reading literature about the duties and responsibilities of council members and taking advantage of training sessions through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office as he prepares to take office.
“I’m trying to get as much hands-on experience as possible before Jan. 1 so I can be ready to hit the ground running,” Swidarski said.
“I want to be as ready as I can when my term starts.”
Swidarski said he knows there is going to be a big learning curve.
“I definitely want to jump in with both feet,” he said. “I want to immerse myself in local government or local governance, and learn from the people who have been there.
