The record high for this date, Nov. 14, was 71 degrees set in 1990. We pretty easily broke that as temperatures warmed quickly on Friday, topping out at 72 degrees by 3 p.m.
Throughout the Twin Cities metro, afternoon highs ranged from the upper 60s to the mid-70s.
Typically on these warm days we look west to the Buffalo Ridge for the warmest readings, but the Twin Cities was on par with any other readings across southern Minnesota. The final tally on records is still being counted, but Marshall, as well as numerous other spots, certainly reached or surpassed record highs.
The record that is more eye-catching is that this is the warmest we’ve ever reached 72 degrees or higher. Previously, the latest date for that threshold was Nov. 8, 2020.
