PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A five-star power forward from the Valley is heading across the country to play for one of college basketball’s most esteemed programs.

Cameron Williams , the top-ranked high school basketball player in Arizona and the No. 3 recruit in the 2026 class, committed to Duke University on Friday. Williams chose the Blue Devils over the Arizona Wildcats and Texas Longhorns.

Had he chosen Arizona, Williams would have been the top high school player to commit to the Wildcats since Deandre Ayton in 2017.

Williams, who stands at 6′11″, averaged 18 points per game and roughly nine rebounds for the St. Mary’s Knights last season. The Knights open up the 2025-26 season on Dec. 1 at home against the Prescott Badgers.
