YOUNGSTOWN - A Youngstown man who was accused of robbing a postal carrier in March of 2024 pled guilty in federal court on Friday.

According to federal court records, 37-year-old Joseph Grove pled guilty to one count of robbery or theft of mail, money or property of the United States.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred near Rush Boulevard and Hilton Street when Grove approached a mail carrier and showed him a gun tucked in his waistband and said, "Don't die for a key, bro," and "If you try anything, you're dead."

The mail carrier then gave Grove his "arrow key," which is a special key used to unlock collection mailboxes nationwide.

Grove was federally indicted in connection with this incident in August of 2024. He is set for sentencing on February 19.
