Earlier this year, a team of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) had visited Botswana in connection with the import of a new batch of cheetahs to India. When President Droupadi Murmu visited the African nation recently, a government veterinary expert was part of the delegation, which saw the symbolic handover of eight cheetahs to India. The veterinary expert, it is learnt, was on a state visit to be part of the release of the cheetahs into a quarantine facility at Mokoldi Nature Reserve. The cheetahs will remain in quarantine for a month, and a delegation will visit later to translocate the cheetahs to India.
