STONINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - A 20-year-old sailor from a five-man crew rescued hundreds of miles off the coast of North Carolina last week is sharing his harrowing experience after their sailboat began sinking during what should have been a routine trip to the Bahamas.
Dylan Flack was aboard the Magic Bus sailboat when it departed from Stonington Harbor last Monday, bound for the Bahamas where the vessel spends its winters after summering in Connecticut waters.
“There was nothing unusual about what we were doing or where we were going,” said Flack, who has been sailing since he was four years old.
The crew was taking the sailboat on a journey the boat has completed several times before, hoping to reach the Bahamas by Friday.
But 24 hours into the trip, the boat started taking on water
