CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 9-year-old boy accused of attempted murder and rape made his first court appearance on Thursday in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, but without any legal guardian.

The boy is charged along with a 10-year-old girl in an attack on a 5-year-old victim. The boy was supposed to appear in court last week but didn’t show up, prompting Judge Kristin Sweeney to threaten a warrant if he didn’t come on Thursday.

The boy appeared wearing a face mask, dressed in a green hoodie and black pants, staying quiet as the prosecutor outlined the charges on Nov. 13.

“This case results in a 5-year-old being left naked, beaten, and urinated upon in a field and left for hours. At a very minimum, the state is requesting home detention with an ankle monitor,” the prosecutor said.
