COON RAPIDS, Minn. — Minnesota Senator John Hoffman was discharged from the hospital after his latest surgery, five months after he was shot in an alleged assassination attempt.

Hoffman underwent surgery on Monday, repairing bullet impact to his kidney, bladder and colon, according to a spokesperson for the family.

He is expected to make a full recovery after he was shot on June 14 in his Champlin home with his wife, according to the statement.

Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were both shot multiple times shortly before the gunman shot and killed Minnesota House Speaker Emirata Melissa Hortman, her husband, Mark, and their dog, Gilbert, at their home in Brooklyn Park.
