FAIRFIELD - A burglary in Fairfield led to a police chase and an arrest.

Joel Williams, 27, of Vassalboro is facing a number of charges.

Just before 9:30 Thursday night officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Dyer Court in Fairfield .

It was reported an armed male who appeared to be under the influence of drugs had entered the residence and was acting erratically while damaging property.

A state police spokesperson says when troopers arrived they saw a man later identified as Williams getting into a car.

The spokesperson says Williams did not comply with the trooper's commands and began yelling out the window as he fled.

According to the spokesperson, a pursuit went through Waterville and ended when the car hit a guardrail on
