Re “Some merit to civil servants being in the reserves” (Lorne Gunter, Nov. 12): There is indeed some merit to this proposal. It allows another Mark Carney sleight-of-hand. Canada adds 300,000 “reservists” with one week of training and – presto! – those salaries are now part of our defence budget. We just accomplished the 5% goal with a paper shuffle. See, it wasn’t difficult at all.
