LUMBERTON — Giselle Leach and Ava Hanna have been honored as Robeson County Co-Players of the Year after each gave a stellar performance at hitter for the Pirates this season.

“She is improving so much,” Lumberton head coach Bryan Hales said in reference to Leach. “Before she’s been known just as a hitter, but now she’s starting to play the back row a little bit. Her goal is right now, before her senior year she wants to be able to play all the way around.”

The honor was not lost on Leach, who is grateful for the recognition.

“I’m really proud of the season I’ve had,” Leach said. “(Winning this award) especially with my teammate Ava, it’s really an accomplishment, especially as a sophomore.”
