The Montrealer is not the same player Carlos Alcaraz has beaten the last four times.
Indeed, Félix Auger-Aliassime came into Turin as a revived force: confident after a U.S. Open semifinal run, playing the cleanest tennis of his season and back ranked among the world’s best players.
But his hot form wasn’t enough on Saturday night.
The world No. 1 defeated him 6-2, 6-4.
The victory secured Alcaraz’s place in the final of the Nitto ATP Finals, setting up the hotly anticipated showdown against Jannik Sinner, the world No. 2 and archrival.
Coming into the semifinal, expectations leaned heavily toward Alcaraz. He had dropped only one set all week.
But Auger-Aliassime, too, arrived with momentum, having beaten world No. 3 Alexander Zverev the night before to make it to the semifinals.
