PHOENIX — The weekend storms that are anticipated to bring wet weather to the Valley started to make their way into and through metro Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

Showers and a couple of thunderstorms were affecting southwest Arizona near Yuma around 1:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS) for Phoenix.

The weather authority’s radar then showed part of the storm making its way into the West Valley at approximately 1:56 p.m. and moving east across metro Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Transportation also advised drivers about “heavy weather” near Glendale Avenue and Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway around 2:30 p.m.
