Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp has discussed in depth for the first time the terrifying chainsaw incident that left him requiring hospital treatment just weeks before his I'm A Celebrity appearance.

The 64 year old musician was rushed to A&E following an attempt to cut wood in his Hertfordshire garden, with his son Roman subsequently revealing his father had been "lucky not to lose his hand".

Roman informed his podcast audience that the family first became aware of the incident when Martin shared an image of his heavily bandaged fingers on their WhatsApp group.

Speaking ahead of entering the camp, Martin acknowledged it was an unfortunate accident. "I was taking the scabbard off," he said.
