BLOOMINGTON — Fernando Mendoza , now a record setter in addition to being a Heisman frontrunner, promised postgame Saturday that he would not pass Indiana football ’s forthcoming bye week quietly.

A creature of strict habit , Mendoza prefers not to deviate from a daily routine that includes not just practice and lifting, but also scheme work and film study lasting sometimes well after sundown. Just because the Hoosiers get next weekend off, Mendoza said, doesn’t mean he plans to soft-pedal the week.
