Kenny Easley, the ferocious former Seattle Seahawks safety whose dominance helped define an era of NFL defense, died Friday evening at age 66.
Drafted fourth overall out of UCLA in 1981, Easley spent all seven of his professional seasons in Seattle, where he quickly emerged as one of the league’s most feared playmakers. He earned five Pro Bowl nods and three first-team All-Pro selections, and in 1984 put together one of the most memorable defensive seasons in franchise history—leading the NFL with 10 interceptions, scoring three defensive touchdowns, and capturing AFC Defensive Player of the Year honors. His relentless, punishing style earned him the nickname “The Enforcer,” a reputation that helped secure his place on the NFL’s 1980s All-Decade Team. He was inducted into the Pro Football
