Between 50 to 60 chickens died when a barn in a northwest suburb of Chicago caught fire Saturday morning, authorities said.
Around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to a fire on the 4700 block of Lindwall Road and found a barn "fully engulfed and already collapsing" and two vehicles on fire, authorities said.
All 50 to 60 chickens that we inside the barn at the time of the fire died, authorities said.
The fire was also spreading to the house when authorities arrived, prompting the incident to be upgraded and additional personnel and water resources to be requested, authorities said.
The family exited prior to fire fighters arriving and were not injured.
