CENTENNIAL, Colo — A fundraiser intended to help the families of two 13-year-old soccer players who died in a car crash raised no money after the organization behind it failed to include a critical link in its social media post.
David Murguia and Diego Rubio died in September in a crash on Interstate 25 near Arapahoe Road in Greenwood Village while traveling to soccer practice.
Real Colorado Soccer announced that the Colorado Rapids would donate $5 from each ticket sold to an Oct. 18 Colorado Rapids game to the grieving families, but the social media post promoting the fundraiser omitted the special ticket link needed to direct donations.
The families received zero dollars from the effort.
"We published it on our social media without the link, which was our mistake as a club," said J
