LINCOLN -- The Maine Attorney General's Office says officers were justified in shooting and killing a man earlier this year in the town of Lincoln . The report says the two officers acted in self-defense and in defense of another when they shot the man.
During the evening of February 12, officers responded to a home on Whalen Street in Lincoln for a trespassing complaint. Officers found Derek Beach, 37, of Lincoln, in the kitchen of that Whalen Street home with a knife.
According to Lincoln police, Beach had bail conditions prohibiting him from being at the residence, as well as a protection-from-abuse order.
The report says at one point, Beach pointed the knife at his own chest.
