EGG HARBOR CITY - The degree of difficulty was absurd, but Gyan King kept his concentration.

With overtime staring King and his Cedar Creek High School teammates clearly in the face, he made a play that will long be remembered in a program that continues to build its tradition and trophy case.

Tied at 28 after Mainland’s Nate Kashey shook off the pressure and drilled a 41-yard field goal with 33.3 seconds remaining in their South Jersey Group 3 classic championship game, Cedar Creek decided to take advantage of its big-play ability.

“We wanted to try to get in field goal position because we have a good kicker,” Cedar Creek coach James Melody said.
