FISHERS, Ind — There's been an update in the fight over teacher contract negotiations at Hamilton Southeastern Schools.

In a Nov. 15 press release , the district says they've entered mediation with the Hamilton Southeastern Education Association after failing to reach an agreement with teachers on their own.

HSE schools say they will continue negotiations with the Education Association within the state-mandated timeline.

In October, 86% of teachers in the district voted down a new contract and on Wednesday night, dozens of Hamilton County teachers stormed out of a school board meeting, demanding more pay.

Teachers are asking for more money to help cover health care costs and say they aren't feeling valued, but are united in a push for a better deal.
