SAINT CLAIR, Pa. — Flames were already climbing out of the second-floor window of this home on North Mill Street in Saint Clair when neighbors ran outside as the owner of the home screamed that her dog was still inside. Among the neighbors, BJ Lewis, who jumped into action, grabbed his ladder and climbed to the second floor, fire extinguisher in hand, was trying to tame the flames before firefighters arrived.
"My first thought was, 'It's spreading to the neighbor's houses, ' and all I could think was if I could knock it down, and keep that from happening, you know, save everybody else's homes as well," says Lewis.
Lewis says the fire kept reigniting from the home's A/C unit. As he worked to tackle the flames, Lewis says another neighbor, Noel, comforted the family as they watched smoke b
