SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The No.1 seeded Notre Dame women’s soccer team kicked off the NCAA Tournament with a dominant 4-0 victory over UIC.
Tessa Knapp put the Irish on the board in the 7th minute to give Notre Dame a 1-0 lead.
The Irish then doubled their advantage in the 64th minute when Charlie Codd fired home to make it 2-0.
Codd added another goal in the 84th minute and Ellie Hodsden scored in the final 30 seconds of play to make it a 4-0 final.
It was the seventh shutout of the season for Notre Dame (15-1-3), who remains undefeated at home this year at 10-0.
The Irish will look to keep it rolling when they welcome Ohio State to South Bend for a second-round matchup on Thursday night. Kickoff time has yet to be determined as of late Saturday night.
