SHAMOKIN – Critical mistakes clipped the Eagles’ wings in Line Mountain’s 31-20 PIAA Class A first-round loss to Lackawanna Trail at Kemp Memorial Stadium.
Despite out-gaining the Lions 333-241 and amassing 20 first downs to LT’s 12, Line Mountain was unable to overcome three critical mistakes. A pair of interceptions and a botched punt attempt derailed the Eagles’ shot at what would have been their first ever PIAA tournament win.
“We made a couple of mistakes and it cost us the game, that is what happens when you get to this level,” acknowledged Line Mountain skipper Brandon Carson. “We made mistakes and (Lackawanna Trail) played a pretty clean game.”
“Field position and momentum swings are so important in high school football (and they went our way today),” said Lackawanna Trail coach
