The Seton Catholic girls soccer team survived a frantic finish Saturday, holding off University Prep of Seattle 1-0 in a Class 1A state quarterfinal match Saturday at Seton Catholic.
Not one, but two UPrep shots hit the crossbar of the goal including one loud one in stoppage time.
And a few times UPrep had numbers in front of the goal with what appeared to be big openings, but the No. 2 seeded Cougars (20-0-1) came away unscathed.
“We just had to stay calm and rally together,” junior defender Violet Heidt said. “It was really stressful since they were just one goal down and they were so close, hitting the post a couple of times.”
